CORFU OLD TOWN

What’s not to like about Corfu Old Town – except the cars!  It is a gem.  It’s packed full of beautiful buildings, great restaurants, unusual places to shop and cool bars to hang out in.Oh and lots more…

I’ll start with the Patounis Soap Factory

Patounis Soap Factory is just off San Roco Square – they run guided tours at 12.00 on weekdays.  The tour is really interesting and the building is history itself – and you can buy soap there which will start you on the route of eliminating plastic from your life.

From there you can wander through San Roco Square and up towards the market – selling flowers and fish and vegetables.  What next?  A quick meal at Pane e Souvlaki in the town square? A gin and tonic in the super cool Bristol Cafe?  Or an ice-cream in the fabulous bakery and ice-cream shop – Papagiorgis?

Then maybe a little light shopping in the nearby streets for beautiful handmade jewellery, clothing and accessories in Barbara Anti-Kairoi:

or for freshly imported spices and teas from Sweet and Spicy:

Afterwards you can head to the Liston:

for a quiet sit down in one of their many bars and restaurants or if you feel like more walking head up to the Old Fort to ramble among the ruins.  By then you must be in need of a quiet sit down so head down to Mandraki Harbour:

where you can sit and have a beer and watch the yachts come in to settle down for the evening or simply have a snooze on the charming little beach there.

So many things to do and see in Corfu – these are just a few of my favourite spots – I hope you will come and stay with us and take the opportunity to enjoy them for yourself.
