Petriti

Petriti is a pretty fishing town on the South East coast of Corfu.  It is possible to visit there by car or by sea.  If you are arriving by boat you can moor on the small concrete quay or anchor off between the beach and the quay.  

There is still a working fishing fleet which operates from the quay/marina.  

You can queue up in the mornings with the cats and the locals and buy fish from the boats.

Petriti boasts several excellent tavernas – Leonidas being the closest to the quay and hosted by the welcoming Vasilli who serves excellent home made food – calamari, moussaka, baked aubergines….

It has apartments which have a pool that you can swim in and chill out by – in return for buying a drink or a cocktail – happy hour runs in the early evening.  There are shops and a donkey.  

The shops closest to the quay are a supermarket, bakery and post office – I would defy anyone to need something that one of these cannot supply their stock is so varied.  It is sometimes a problem squeezing more than three customers into the supermarket at one time due to the large stock of items that they carry!

Along the coast is Notos Bay.

Here you can anchor off and swim ashore to enjoy a charming, gently shelving beach or head for one of the quays that the local tavernas build to jut out into the sea to help you come ashore to visit.

Our favourite is Electra’s Garden.  

She has the most beautiful garden to sit and soak up the sunshine in – she supplies home made food and wine – ice creams and drinks.  It is a fantastic place to while away the hours – sometimes even watching the dolphins that come and play in the bay in the evenings.
